The story is about a man that travels around collecting interviews with survivors. He ends up meeting people who’s only goal is to cure the disease. They think they have found away. Alas, there is always an obstacle between the heroes and their goals and as you may have guessed, the obstacle is zombies.
The interesting part about Joe McKinney’s story is that the zombies develop in stages. A fresh zombie has almost to no cognitive abilities. Once they develop to stage 2, they can hunt in a group and corner humans in order to make their kill. A stage 3 zombie is intelligent. They have great cognitive abilities and they can use other zombies to trick humans and even pull tricks to fool them too. Basically, the older the zombie, the more dangerous. I won’t give out too much information but there is also the Red Man who tries his best to stop the main characters from achieving their goal of curing the infectious disease that creates zombies.
Anyways, it was a good story, took me a while to finish it but I enjoyed it.
I would give this book a 7 out of 10
